How in fuck do you remove a plugin licence from a PC and assign it to your ilok account to use on another computer?I’m trying to set up another instance of Abelton on my laptop. I own all the software and plugins. Everything else works fine, but a couple that require ilok activation can’t be activated.I have an ilok account, and have tried deactivating, reinstalling, reactivating, via both the laptop and the desktop where things were originally installed.I work in IT and play with technology all the time. Seriously, ilok is the shitest shit I have seen in a long, long time.I think the issue is because I originally installed the licence to the PC, rather than the ilok account, but I can’t seem to reassign it.Fuck ilok.—————————Edit:To clarify, yes I am using the iLok Manager.
I’m not trying to assign non-iLok-managed plugins to iLok, and I certainly don’t want to have to use the physical USB dongle (though, I do have one).I’ve tried opening a cloud session. I’ve read the support articles on this stuff. You’re meant to be able to drag and drop between iLoks, whether physical, assigned to a computer, or a cloud session. It doesn’t work.Both these plugins should be able to be installed on 2 devices, yet I can’t.

You can validate licences directly—like how Abelton or Brainworx do.Also, I’m not sure the people pirating software would have put the money down for it in the first place, so are they really ‘lost sales’?So having had the time to sleep on this, and read all your balanced, well-considered opinions, I’d like to say:Fuck iLok.I will not be using any product that relies on iLok ever again. The iLok manager software allows you to freely move licenses between computers and iLok keys. It’s pretty simple to move them around actually. You don’t mention whether or not you are using it.

But that is the way it’s supposed to be done. I move my iLok licenses around between 3 different iLoks frequently with no issues whatsoever. They also have the cloud now that you can use to stop having to plug in USB keys. Yeah it sucks somewhat to have to put up with DRM measures but afaik ProTools hasn’t been cracked since version 10 so it seems to be doing its job. I’ve been using iLoks for well over a decade now and never seem to experience the issues others seem to.

McDSP is excited to announce iLok Cloud Support for its entire product line. This new feature, available as a free update in McDSP plugins v6.5 and later, allows McDSP customers to choose between using an iLok dongle and the new iLok Cloud authorization process.With iLok Cloud, McDSP plug-ins no longer require an iLok.
Users are only required to have an iLok account, which can be setup for free at. Users must also install the latest version of iLok License Manger so they can manage their authorizations and active an iLok Cloud session.
An active internet connection is required for all iLok Cloud sessions. ILok Cloud offers the same authorization experience as an iLok, without requiring the iLok USB dongle. McDSP plug-ins can now be authorized from an iLok Cloud session hosted over the internet.
As long as the computer running McDSP software has an internet connection, a user can demo or authorize any McDSP plug-in.
